Unfortunately, Grosvenor lost their Bert Cox Cup tie to Bearsted & Thurnham on Monday evening. The away side put in a good performance to lose 17-23 on a challenging surface, but our home team were well beaten by a strong Bearstead away rink, finishing 11-29. We'll try again next year!
In the mixed triples league, top-placed Grosvenor were home to Paddock Wood's 'A' team, who were third - 8 points behind us - at the start of play. I'm delighted to report that Grosvenor picked up all 6 points, with Norman Barton's triple picking up a magnificent 7 shots in the final two ends to win on their rink by a single shot!
This Saturday sees a brand new trophy contested between Grosvenor players. The Dave Jenner Trophy will be played in a different format to any other competitions that we play, and I'm sure all the participants are looking forward to it! Thank you to Steve Jenner for organising this competition, which will be played in memory of his brother, Dave, one of the finest bowlers that the Grosvenor club has had as a member. The trophy has kindly been donated by Dave's wife, and will be treasured by our club. (Report to follow.)
